Crowned with Glory – Knowing Our Worth

Scripture:
Matthew 10:29-31
 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Psalm 8
1 O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,[b]
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea

How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 31:3
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

1 John 3:1
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

1 Peter 2:9
 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Ephesians 3:17-18
..so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ…

Psalm 139:13-14
 For you created my inmost being;  you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;   your works are wonderful,  I know that full well

Devotional:
Value. Worth. God’s will for and good pleasure toward me. This is a theme that I continue to need to soak in. As women, we are even more susceptible to believing lies and struggling with insecurities about our value. Magazines, celebrities, comparisons with others in our sphere are geared and pointed toward undermining God’s design for us that we would know we are His prized daughters. As moms of children with behavior problems, it is very easy to lose sight of how precious we are to God, and even at times how valuable and precious our children are.

That is why it is so important to spend time listening to what God says about us.

Today, I encourage each of us to take the time to read over the scriptures above. If you have a particular verse that God uses to minister your worth that is not listed here, would you also share it with us? This week, consider choosing one verse that pops out for you. For me, it is going to be Psalm 8 in its entirety. For my children, I am going to hold on to Psalm 139:13-14 and repeat it to them again and again. You can write it out, maybe read it again and again, even put it on a post it note on your car dashboard, on the fridge or kitchen cupboard, taped to the front of your wallet, just wherever your eyes will see it the most often. Whenever you do, try to read it out loud so your ears and heart get to hear it again. It might feel strange or awkward, but maybe, just maybe preaching the Truth of God’s Word to your heart and mind this week will break open an old lie or wound that is keeping you from knowing God’s great pleasure toward you! Maybe, just maybe your child(ren) will also begin to understand their immense value, and maybe, just maybe the power of God’s Word will begin to transform the ordinary challenges and bring a new measure of peace.

Prayer:
Father, I want to believe Your Word over the lies that are so plentiful. Show me in Your Word what You want to tell me, what truth I need to plant in place of those lies.

I lift up my home and family to You and ask that we would rest and soak in Your truth above all.

I pray for my child(ren) that You will implant this value in them, and make them more hungry for Your Words and thoughts toward them than the words and thoughts of others who do not love them the way You do. I lift up (area of need or concern) today to Your throne for divine and miraculous intervention.

Cover my home today with peace, harmony, and the true Fruit of Your Spirit flowing in abundance.
