Hungry

Scripture:
Matthew 5:6

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Psalm 107:9
For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

John 6:27
“Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”

John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Isaiah 55:1-3
“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.”

Devotional:
Today, again, I feel hungry for God. A little empty. A little uninspired, tired, thirsty. Nerves are a little raw. I have to ask the question, what if I were this hungry but I didn’t spend time with Him? Friends. He is the only Answer to this hunger. I have no answer that is better. Come, buy. Eat. Take His Word in to You. Soak in His presence. Find the satisfaction of spending time with Him. He will take your longing and turn it in to joy. You will be satisfied. You will.

This is not a promise to change my circumstances. This is a promise that He will fill me with what I need. My soul may live by the Bread of Life. This gift is the only fulfilment for my ravenous soul.

As a mother, as a wife, I need this filling each day so that I have the fuel to carry out what He has called me to do and to be. I need Him. My family need Him, and they need me to feast on Him so that I can point them to the feast.

Come. Buy. Feast on the Bread of Life today!

Prayer:
Lord, today I ask that You will fill my hungry soul. I lay my weary heart at Your feet for refreshment. I thank You that I have only to look to You and Your Word and Your Presence to solve my ache.

Fill me, Lord. I need You.

I lift my children today and I ask that they would bring their need to You, God. Show them that You have the answers to their needs. Give them a great love for You and Your Presence.

I lift up (area of need or concern) for Your solutions.

In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen
