Pearl Strewn Pathways of Peace

Scripture:
Matthew 13:45-46
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Proverbs 8:10-11
Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.

Proverbs 3:13-18
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Colossians 2:2-3
that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Devotional:
Good morning, friends. Today is one of the many mommy mornings I face with a little girl who struggles to sleep well. 2 am was not a nice time this morning, and my hour and a half of wide awake time afterward has left me feeling exhausted and wrung out. My usual 5:30 wake up time became 6:30, and at 7 am my dear husband is cooking breakfast for me as I type this, and as I curl up on my quiet time couch with my hair wrapped in a towel from a bath that at least kept me from seeing double.

I am here seeking pearls. The only way I can possibly make it through this day is if I seek and find this Pearl. I need God’s Presence. I need His wisdom. I need the Holy Spirit to fall fresh on my heart and soul. It is the main need I have, more important than being perfectly on schedule. I need Him, and I need to walk that path of peace that comes from seeking Him. I pray that today, the nuggets from His Word will minister to your hearts, too. Whatever that looks like to you: a few extra minutes of dirty dishes, putting off a nonessential errand until another day or later in the day, let that priority put you on the path of peace. May you be blessed with that pearl today!

Prayer:
Lord, I thank You that wisdom and peace are mine for the seeking. Today, I ask that You will refresh me and uphold me as I walk through my day. I ask that my child(ren) would be also firmly planted on the path of peace, and that Your Spirit will flow through our entire family.

Intercession:
I ask that You will intervene (take time to focus on the area(s) your child(ren) has (have) need or struggle). I thank You that You are the Author of the solution.

Bless Your Name, Lord!

In Jesus’ Name, amen.
