Wednesday, December 27, 2017--Prayer Only
Wednesday, December
27, 2017
Good morning!
Welcome to prayer today! I pray and trust your Christmas was sweet, and that
you have been able to draw closer together as a family during this season. It
is so good to be here praying together with all of you today! For the final few
days of December, I’ll continue with a simple prayer. Starting in January, I’ll
resume the study of Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster. We are just
about half way through. It is definitely a deep study, and while at times that
sort of study can feel daunting, I pray that we will as followers of Christ
become enlarged in our hearts as we learn the disciplines of our faith. I pray
also that we will be more fully equipped to disciple our children as we
continue to be discipled ourselves! As a reminder, if you would like a copy of
the book to read yourself, it is available at most bookstores, on Amazon
(including Kindle), and at many public libraries. I’ll post a link to the
Amazon book in the comments 😊
Thank you again for
joining me today. God bless you!
Prayer:
Thanksgiving:
Gracious Father, I
am so thankful to be in Your presence today! Lord, You are worthy. Blessed be
the Name of the Lord!
Psalm 103:1-5
1 Bless
the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Lord, I thank You
for the many facets of Your wonderful nature! I thank You for the creative
power of Your Word. Let Your Word create new life in me today. You are worthy
of praise, Lord, and I extol You today.
Confession:
I bring this heart
to You today and thank You for Your mercy and lovingkindness. It is Your
kindness that leads us to repentance. I pray that I will continually choose to
re-think my choices, my attitudes, and my motives to honor You and live a
blameless life by Your Spirit. Perfect me in Your timing. (Take time to journal
and confess to the Lord. Remember, this is not a time to beat yourself up,
friend. This time is a daily renewing of a pure heart before the Lord, removing
any hindrances to prayer, and fostering your relationship with Him. He is your
loving Father. Many of us do not have loving fathers on this earth. Allow God
to be who He is: your True Father, Who loves you and desires your good. If this
truth is hard to receive, ask Him to reveal His true heart to you and heal the
places that are wounded. The father wound is one that takes time and the Holy
Spirit to heal, but trust the Lord that this process will be worth it!)
Supplication:
I bring my needs to
You this day as well. Help me to align my desires with Your Will. Teach me to
seek Your kingdom first, and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33). (Take time to
journal and list needs, making note of progress, answered prayers, and
victories. Don’t grow weary, friends, in continuing to pray for those things
which seem to be unchanging or are slow to change!)
Intercession:
I lift my children
to You today. I acknowledge that I need You for their parenting. I recognize
that I can do nothing apart from You. I ask You to intervene in our life, and
touch every circumstance that surrounds us. Cause my children’s world to order
according to Your Will and Your Kingdom. Be on the throne of our hearts, Lord.
Woo my children into an ever deepening relationship with You. (Take time to
journal needs and requests. Make note of answered prayers, progress, and
victories. Continue to lift repeated needs to the Throne and ask the Lord for
encouragement for those things that are slow to change.)
Thanksgiving and
Consecration:
Lord, I thank You
for Your great love for us. I thank You for the time You have preserved for
this prayer time today. You are good, and You are lovely. Seal this precious
time for Your Kingdom and Your Glory today. In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
Blessing and
Benediction:
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11
Bless you today as you parent!
