Friday, December 29, 2017-Prayer Only

Friday, December 29, 2017

Good morning! This morning, when my husband greeted me (with coffee, I might add. This alone would have been enough reason to marry him!!), he shared that he had read that this time between Christmas and New Year is like the twilight of the year. I love that image. We are calm, relaxed, awaiting the change of the day (year), and a little blissfully disoriented. This year, we have been afforded the luxury of almost two full weeks of vacation with the whole family, a first for us. The time of connecting, the opportunity to rest (and heal) and enjoy each other and beloved family, is a treasure that we cherish far beyond extravagant vacations. In this twilight season, I pray that each of us will find a deeper level of connection with the Lord, with our family, and with those around us. May this gently closing season of Christmas and the New Year leave us with a sense of laying to rest the struggles of the past and a dawning of hope for the future. God bless you today as we pray for our children!

Scripture:
Psalm 63:1-4
1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
    my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
    as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
    beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life,
    my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
    in your name I will lift up my hands.
Prayer:

Thanksgiving:
Great and mighty God, I give You glory this day. I thank You and lift my hands to You in Your Name. I bless You, Lord, and honor You. I love You and desire to be more like You each day. The heavens declare Your majesty, Holy Father!

Confession:
I open my heart to You each day and bring my confession. I release any wrong or habitual choices as sin, and recognize that only You can cleanse me. Teach me Your Way, Lord!

Psalm 139:23-24
23
Search me, O God, and know my heart!
    Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting!

(Take time to journal what the Lord has shown you. This time of confession is a daily opportunity for a beautiful, fresh start!)

Supplication:
I lift my heart and life to You and thank You that You are in complete control. I relinquish the control I try to take from You and give it back to You. Let Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done in my home and in my life. (Take time to journal needs, requests, progress, victories and answered prayers.)

Intercession:
I lift my children to You today. I ask You to intervene in their lives. Again, I relinquish any control I have tried to hold onto. You are their true Father, and I bow to Your authority. (Journal needs, requests, progress, victories and answers to prayer.)

Thanksgiving and Consecration:
Thank You, Lord, that You have met me here! Seal this time for Your Kingdom and Your glory today. I praise You, God! In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.

Blessing and Benediction:
May the dawning of the New Year find you fixed on the light of the Son,  and may the glory of the Lord rise fully in your hearts!

God bless you!
