He Is Willing

Mark 1:40-41
40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Hebrews 4:15
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

Devotional:
How did we find this Jesus? How were we, sisters, so blessed that we were gifted with the revelation of His great power? I do not know the answer to that question, but I am deeply grateful that we did.

Leprosy. This is a disease that we do not face in our American culture. Oh, my. Photographs of advanced leprosy are deeply disturbing. The culture of the day in Jesus’ time not only ignored but shunned the many afflicted. Jesus would have been supported by His people had he chosen to walk by, steer clear, and overlook this man.

I have to put myself on that road with Jesus on that day. I have to take some time to wonder what it would be like. What is it that would move me to kneel before Who for all I knew was only a man and beg him this way? In my case, it would be my son’s healing and deliverance. That he would receive his words. That the cognitive and developmental delays would be instantly healed. That I would be able to raise him with the same tools I came to the earth equipped with and understand. And even then, would I truly beg? I am not sure, though in my own private times I have.

And what if he put himself out there like that…and the answer was…

…no?

I do not have all the answers. That is for certain. I really don’t know if God is going to choose to heal my son in this lifetime, and I do not know if He will choose to intervene in your painful situation. But this story gives me hope!  Jesus, the Son of God, God of the Universe incarnate, WAS WILLING. Not only that, but He is the same! Yesterday, 2000 years ago, today, and forever. He is willing. I do not know what circumstances need to line up, but I am not going to get off my knees in front of the only true Answer to the painful circumstances that I face as a mom. If I have my way, I will still be here posting prayers when He returns. Because I serve a willing God.

Prayer:
Father, I thank You that You have taken time to make a record of how Jesus walked the earth. You have worked diligently to make sure we can know Your heart toward us through Him.

Lord, if You are willing, please intervene in my home. I need intervention, and You are the only One Who can intervene. Please touch the afflictions we face and deliver us from any uncleanness. Break chains that bind any in our home. Heal sickness, open blind eyes, repair broken hearts. Pinpoint behavior problems. Eradicate sin in the hearts of us and our child(ren). Cleanse us, Lord.

Intercession:
(Journal time. In your journal either in a small book or on your computer in a separate file, list needs for each child. Take time to focus on what God is showing you for them.)

Thank You, Father. You are good, and You are willing to intervene. I bless You in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
