Thy Will Be Done

Scripture:
Matthew 26:39
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.

Philippians 2:8
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Hebrews 5:7
In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.

Romans 15:1-3
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”

Romans 15:1-3
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”

Luke 9:23
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Proverbs 3:5-6
 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
John 5:30
"I can do nothing on My own initiative As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Devotional:
This is a hard season in the life of the Truitt family. These devotionals are becoming a bit of a journal of our trials and challenges. However, when I read these words about the life and journey of Jesus, I am thankful that I have Him to look to. As I have shared, I got the joy of standing in Israel and walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Standing in the Garden of Gethsemane, I was deeply impacted as we moved among the ancient olive trees that in likelihood were there when He was. His tears were shed, His bloody sweat seeped out in those very groves. He poured out His life and lived so that I can be able to also live by the grace of God and do His will.

My life has been like a pioneer. As a girl, I was in love with Laura Ingalls Wilder and her story of life on the prairies of the pioneering United States. Hard work, intense weather, isolation, forging forth without much direction but just a dream: This is how I have seen my life as well. There was little modeling in my childhood for how to “be,” for how to live a God-centered life. Words did not match actions, so as I grew into my own person, I struggled to know how to put God’s Word into practice without veering.

I find myself at times like the ones we are walking out going into the Garden to pour out my heart. Thy Will be done, Lord. This hurts. If you can take it please DO! But nevertheless….

Thy Will Be Done.

I am so glad that I can come to His Garden to pour out my hurts, fears, struggles and needs. He hears me. He will cause my life to be to His glory, regardless of the outcome. Regardless if I end up on the cross, it will be to His praise.

Thy Will Be Done.

If I have to be honest, I really don’t want to let Him have His will. I want the outcomes to be comfortable, easy and ideal. I want unicorns and rainbows. I want heaven.  I don’t want to walk in this painful, hurt, broken and fallen world. But I certainly do want His redemptive power to restore it! And if that takes me walking out a difficult path to His glory…

Thy Will Be Done.

Prayer:
Father, I come before You and lay the broken pieces of my heart and life in Your hands.  With my face to the earth, I confess, You are the One Who is in charge of this life. I renew my vow to allow You use me in any way You choose. I repent for complaining about Your Ways.

I give my child(ren) to You, Lord. They are Yours. Their path is Yours. I am Your vessel. Use me to pour into their life/lives.

Intercession:
I lift up (area of need, concern, brokenness, sin). (Spend time interceding. Ask God to show you in His Word what you need to focus on and meditate on. Journal and keep track for future reference.)

I lay this before You today and release it to Your desire.

In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
