Prayer Is Powerful

Scripture:
Matthew 18:19-20
19 Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.

John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Philippians 1:19
...for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance…

Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Matthew 7:7-9
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?

John 14:13-14
Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it

John 16:23
In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

Devotional:
Today I get to study and share on some of my favorite passages of Scripture. The promises of Jesus are so clear in regards to prayer. My heart is full as I try to share on these passages which to me make up the core of what I live for. I truly and earnestly believe that the only thing that will ever truly cause change to happen in the life of the believer is prayer. God has given us prayer so that we can access Him, and He has restored that access through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The name of Jesus is the bridge and connector to the throne of our Mighty God. And what a mighty God we serve! He is greater than what we are facing with our toddlers, teens and tweens.

In Bible school, I was awakened to my passion for prayer when reading The Power of Prayer, by R.A. Torrey, one of the pillars of faith of the early 1900s. He was deeply passionate about stirring the Body of Christ to prayer. His words inspire me today to share with you:

“Oh, men and women, pray through; pray through! Do not just begin to pray and pray a little while and throw up your hands and quit; but pray and pray and pray until God bends the heavens and comes down.”

And:
“Those persons who know the deep peace of God, the unfathomable peace that passeth all understanding, are always men and women of much prayer.”

As we come into the presence of God today for our homes and children, I pray that we will remember that we are not here for nothing. We are here because it is through prayer God changes our circumstances. It is His way of bringing us to our knees and to the end of ourselves. He is the mountain moving God, the heart changing God, and He desires His kingdom to rule in our today. What a powerful name, the name of Jesus, to deliver!

Prayer:
Today, God, I am so excited to get to do business with you for my family. I lift up the name of Jesus and glorify You in my home. I submit the circumstances I face and turn my eyes to You instead.

Intercession:
I lift up my child(ren) to You today. You are the only One Who can cause our home to be a place of peace and order. It is You Who will cause this to happen. I ask that You intervene in (name difficult circumstance or concern).

You are my God, and I trust You to make these things right.

In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
